Through an annual partnership with the National Forest Foundation, we establish an opportunity to give back to the resource that provides endless recreation and livelihood. As stewards for the White Mountain National Forest (and all public lands), we aim to protect. preserve, respect and minimize our impact on this invaluable space. Sum.it For The Forest brings together the community, raises needed funds to further the mission and provides an opportunity to educate throughout our shared experience.
For your safety and comfort, you will be hiking with a professional mountain guide who has years of experience on Mount Washinton in the summer and winter. They are trained to manage the terrain, medical issues, navigational and weather conditions and have final say over safety issues, such as summit attempts and when to turn around (if necessary). Their presence does not guarantee a summit but it certainly increases the likelihood!
No shuttle will be provided for Sum.It For The Forest hikers, and you are responsible for getting yourself down the mountain.
The Mt. Washington Auto Road does offer a hiker shuttle to the general public but Capacity is extremely limited, and seats are offered on a first come, first served basis, so do not “plan” on utilizing this shuttle.
Of course! We know many young trail blazers and are excited to make friends with others.
The event is held rain or shine, so be prepared for all conditions!
Absolutely! Tickets for non-hikers are $12 and may be purchased in advance online here.
